You Have to Wake up at 5am to be Succesful

At Least That's What I used to Think

In partnership with

Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod.

It was the second self-improvement book I’d ever read.

I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was a freshman in college. It was fall and the leaves were beginning to change.

I would be walking through campus, headphones on, admiring the beautiful orange, red, and yellow colors.

Pair the scenery of the trees and historic campus buildings with a flannel, a cup of coffee, and an early morning walk… I was living the midwestern dream.

Being brand new to self-improvement, EVERYTHING in that audiobook was pure gold.

I remember the details of him explaining how much time someone could get back over the course of a year just by waking up one hour earlier each day.

1 hour per day, 365 days = 15.2 days.

“What could someone accomplish if they had 15 more days to work than their competition?”

I’d think to myself. And one of the morning routine frameworks in his book I still apply today… It’s called SAVERS.

  • Silence

  • Affirmations

  • Visualize

  • Exercise

  • Read

  • Scribe (Write)

“Do these six things each morning and you’ll be on your way to success in no time,” the book claimed.

If you’re like me, you’re always looking for new and insightful newsletters to read.

One of my favorites that I’ve been reading a ton lately is The Small Business Mentor.

Alan, the writer of the newsletter, has built his government contracting business to over $30M in revenue.

In his newsletter, he shares everything he’s learned along the way.

And my favorite part?

He’s a no BS kind of guy… you get all of the details, all of the information you need, without the fluff.

So, after learning the SAVERS framework and understanding the power of being an early riser, as you can probably guess with a young and impressionable college student, I set my alarm for 5am the next day.

This is the path to success.

Little did I know, I was in for a rude awakening. I followed the routine to a T… for about 3 days.

Each day I woke up absolutely exhausted. Turns out, getting about 5-6 hours of sleep was not ideal. On day four, I missed my alarm… didn’t even hear it… and ended up sleeping for 12 hours and skipped my early morning class.

I thought I’d failed. “I’m not cut out for success,” I thought.

No… looking back, it was my first experiment learning what DIDN’T work for me. That’s all it was. After trying hundreds of different things over the years across all focuses of life, I’ve built a resume of what doesn’t work for me.

That’s all self-improvement is… it’s a journey of finding what works best for you, not learning about what works best for others.

As you go about your days, constantly testing and trying better ways of doing things, don’t be upset if something doesn’t work for you.

If there was only one way to do everything in the world, life would be pretty boring.

Embrace your uniqueness, and embrace who YOU are.

Enjoy the day.

This cannabis startup pioneered “rapid onset” gummies

Most people prefer to smoke cannabis but that isn’t an option if you’re at work or in public.

That’s why we were so excited when we found out about Mood’s new Rapid Onset THC Gummies. They can take effect in as little as 5 minutes without the need for a lighter, lingering smells or any coughing.

Nobody will ever know you’re enjoying some THC.

We recommend you try them out because they offer a 100% money-back guarantee. And for a limited time, you can receive 20% off with code FIRST20.

Thanks for reading!

Until next time,

Eric Higgs
