One Word for 2026

Forget goals for a second. Forget KPIs, growth targets, and revenue milestones.

Let’s keep it simple:

What’s one word you want to define your year?

For me, in 2026, that word is: presence.

Why Presence?

Because I’ve noticed a pattern in my life going back to my sports days.

In my personal life, and in business, I’m almost always in one of two places:

1. The past

Reflecting, evaluating, analyzing:

What went well? What didn’t? What should I have done differently?

2. The future

Planning, optimizing, anticipating:

What’s next? What needs fixing? What haven’t I done yet?

That’s the operator brain at work. And it’s useful to a point.

But too often, I’ll finish a great conversation, a win, or even a moment with family and realize…

I wasn’t fully there for it.

My wife experiences this too often with me… we’ll be minutes into a conversation and I’m not listening, my head is in 5 different places.

This happen to anyone else? 🤷‍♂️

So this year, I’m choosing presence. Just being in the moment wherever that moment is.
