How to Network with Other Founders

The term “networking” in the general sense is far different now than it was 10 years ago… or even 5 years ago.

It’s changed… a lot.

When I was working in the corporate world, “networking” was a term that would make my skin crawl every time I heard it.

I knew when others encouraged me to do “more networking” it meant:

  • Forced conversations

  • Salesy elevator pitches

  • Transactional friendships

  • Surface-level interactions with people

The intent of 99% of people who go to those “events” is to sell you something and promote themselves.

Everything feels fake and forced.

Did I mention I don’t like networking events?

But…

4 years later… my perspective of networking has completely changed.

Because there’s a much better way to meet people and build genuine connections.

In fact, I was able to quit my 9-5 back in November and build a creator business because of networking with other creators.

So today, I want to dive into a topic that’s changed the trajectory of my life.

Let’s get into 5 of the best ways to network with other founders heading into 2025:

1. Build Your Brand

You may have expected this one… but building a personal brand that provides value on a regular business will be your number one tool for networking with other creators.

It opens so many doors to others wanting to collaborate with you and many opportunities you couldn’t imagine.

Step 1 for you: Start posting every day on LinkedIn and Twitter. You won’t regret it.

2. Offer Free Value

Now, let’s get into some more tactical strategies.

What are you good at that you can help people with? Whatever it is, whether it’s copywriting, marketing, sales, design, computer, etc. Find what you’re good at, find other creators who you think might need help with it, and offer to help them for free.

For example, Legacy Builder needed someone to write and manage his entire email list and newsletter. I was good at writing, so i offered to come in and manage everything and start writing his newsletters for him. He accepted and the rest is history.

If your good at SEO, look at a creator’s website and find some changes you would make. Now craft a message sharing everything you’d recommend and send it over.

Now find 100+ more websites and send them DMs. At least one of them will reply and ask you to implement your recommendations.

3. Offer to Collaborate

Whether it’s a guest blog post, a guest newsletter article, or another medium. Offer to write an article on a topic that’s relevant to the creator’s niche.

If they have a newsletter about AI and you know a lot about AI, DM them asking if they’d be willing to let you write a guest post free of charge.

Then, when you get the opportunity, overdeliver and provide enormous value to them and their brand.

4. Get Their Free Stuff

Many creators have free lead magnets, courses, or guides that you can pick up.

Grab their free guide, consume every ounce of it, and reach out sharing how valuable it was to you on your journey (be genuine of course).

Then, if there’s something about those guides that you would change or like to see more of, let them know. You can even offer to build it for them for free.

5. Be The Reply Guy

You can build many genuine connections with other creators by being a reply guy on Twitter or LinkedIn.

People love engagement. Find a few creators you want to connect with, and go and comment on everything they post.

This will likely be the top strategy you implement for networking with other creators.

But make sure you’re saying something more than “This is great!” Leave genuine feedback and relate it to your brand or story as well.
