Today, let’s go into a little detail about your email newsletter’s value.

Of course, an email list provides value in multiple ways, and we often think of how it provides value to us, the sender.

It helps your business make money through product sales, scheduling calls with potential clients, and getting the word out about new products and services.

But what about the other side of things? The recipient’s side?

Does the person receiving your email receive any value from it?

Of course.

Whether it’s informing your list of the benefits of one of your products or giving some helpful tips to your audience, the recipient should be looking forward to receiving your email.

Here’s the thing: you can’t view your newsletter as only a means to sell your product, program, or service.

One of the foundations of business is serving other people. Your emails need to be helpful to them.

Just like we’ve talked about the customer or client being the hero of the story, your business is providing something to help people.

Now, the beauty of business is that, when it’s done right, a sale is mutually beneficial.

But you, as the business owner have to keep the main goal in mind, which is to help people with your product or service.

Of course, your email campaigns are part of how you sell your product.

But they do that by providing enough value that it makes people want more.

Maybe you run a coaching program. If so, you can provide value through recommendations for equipment, further education, or helpful tips in your niche.

In your email list, you have a community of people who are interested in something that you have some knowledge, experience, or expertise in.

Share that with them. Show them that you love this thing as much or more than they do.

When they see that, they’ll realize you can help them get better at it and love it more, too.

And that’s when a mutually beneficial sale can take place.
